My last memory of Lexi was in High School when she and I were chatting and she had a distinct memory of a time when I was not so nice to her. Where I thought another friend of mine was the one who was rude to Lexi, she felt it was me. She later moved and I never thought of the incident again. I don’t even know if she remembers it this way or not.
Years later, we became friends on facebook and again I remembered that last interaction but no words were ever said. Except for watching each other’s lives play out on facebook, we never spoke. Then I got an email from Lexi telling me of her engagement and asking if I would be available to be an informal second shooter for her wedding as she already had a photographer, but wanted to hire someone for artistic shots. I told her I would love to fly out and document her day.
And so I did. I ended up shooting her rehearsal and capturing moments of her wedding day as well. I don’t know if Lexi truly knows how much being a part of her day meant/means to me. Although our interactions in high school were less than perfect, I was truly inspired that I could be there with her as she became a wife.
Joey and Lexi are a wonderful fun couple with great friends and family. Whenever I wonder what I’m doing and why I’m doing it… I think of them. Of her and of this amazing experience I’ve had in my life because of my job. What a great lesson in how the universe works.
Take a look at their day below:)
